SVMC plans multiple events in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

September 28, 2018

October is a busy month here at Star Valley Medical Center as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness month.  It is our goal to bring breast cancer to the forefront of your thoughts to encourage women and men to be diligent in performing monthly sef-breast exams and scheduling yearly mammograms.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women, no matter what race or ethnicity; in fact 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.  While this statistic is smaller in men (1 in 1,000) it is becoming more common to see breast cancer diagnosis in men as well.

Early detection is the best prevention for breast cancer.  Regular screenings, both breast exams and mammograms can help catch cancer earlier when it's easier to treat.

With this goal in mind, Star Valley Medical Center has events planned throughout the month to keep Breast Cancer Awareness in focus.
