Summary

While upholding the Star Valley Medical Center mission, vision and values this key position is responsible for the overall quality, execution and services provided and supervision of the therapy and rehabilitation staff.  The director establishes, implements and evaluates polices, goals, budgets and programs within the department.  This leadership position serves as a liaison between the staff and Administration as well as patients/families and the care providers.  This is an “at will” position.

 

Job Duties

·         Maintain an open line of communication with therapists, patients, and other health care providers setting expectations for treatment, emphasizing education and motivation

·         Utilize leadership, management and teambuilding tools to ensure department personnel as well as other SVMC staff work together to ensure departments success and facilities upkeep

·         Ensures department operations are consistent with organization policies and procedures, budgets, mission, vision and values

·         Supervise recruitment, development, retention and organization of all department staff in accordance with budgetary objectives and personnel policies.  Fosters participation in community and professional events

·         Stays informed about changes in the field of therapy and rehabilitation practices.  Share information with appropriate organization personnel

·         Responsible for seeking out opportunities to grow rehabilitation program within the hospital, care center, and community

·         Preserve strong relationships and handle ongoing issues with contracted services such as school district, Home Health Providers, and other key organizations in the service area

·         Maintain and recommend proper staffing and scheduling needs to meet the needs of the department and community

·         Assist Administration with developing operational and capital budgets in conjunction with strategic plan development and execution

·         Participate in committees as assigned

·         Execute other duties as assigned or needs arise

 

Requirements

Abilities & Skills:    

·         Demonstrate professional oral and written communication with the ability to exercise proper judgment, make decisions, and motivate employees

·         Strong multi-tasking skills with the ease of changing directions upon request and needs

·         Empathetic with visitors, the community and staff, to act as a liaison throughout situations

·         Problem solve to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner and gather and analyze

information skillfully

·         Promote a cooperative and congenial team-oriented work environment

·         Provide strategic and operational oversight of department

·         Comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in patient and staff matters

·         Constant sitting, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, bending and reaching with periodical computer work throughout the day.  Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds on a regular basis, one hundred (100+) plus pounds occasionally

 

Experience & Education:

·         Bachelor or advanced degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Therapy

·         Current Wyoming license or ability to secure one

·         Possession of a valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel on work assignments, willingness to work additional hours as duties demand.  Rotating after hour call coverage required

·         Current CPR accredited by American Heart Association and American Red Cross or another approved accredited source
