Star Valley Medical Center is committed to providing quality laboratory testing to our customers.
Our clinical laboratory scientists are certified by a collaborative team of the American Society of Clinical Pathology and National Certification Association. Our laboratory is also certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) in conjunction with the Department of Health and Human Services / CMS.
Our test menu for routine testing, with results available same day or by next day, is as follows:
CHEMISTRY
Metabolic Profiles for kidney and liver functions, electrolytes, glucose, etc.
Lipid Profiles – including cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL
High Sensitive CRP – cardiac risk factor
Insulin Resistance – pre diabetic screening
HgbA1c – for diabetic control monitoring
CRP- marker for inflammation/infections
Iron studies – Iron, Iron saturation, Ferritin
(evaluation of Iron storage diseases and anemia)
Cardiac Enzymes – CPK, CK-MB, Troponin I, BNP
(assess cardiac muscle damage (AMI) and congestive heart failure)
Hormone Levels
Thyroid function – TSH, Free T4 and Free T3
PSA – prostate health and cancer screening
Immunoglobulin E (IgE) – associated with allergies
Estradiol, Prolactin, FSH, LH, Progesterone – women’s health
Testosterone
Parathyroid
Beta HCG – quantitative pregnancy hormone levels
Cancer Markers
CEA – colon cancer
CA-125 – ovarian cancer
AFP
Beta-HCG
NMP22 – bladder cancer
Theraputic Drug Testing – medication monitoring
Digoxin, Theophylline, Valproic Acid, Dilantin, Tegratol, Lithium, Vancomycin, Gentamicin
HEMATOLOGY / COAGULATION
CBC – complete blood counts (WBC, RBC, Hgb, Hct, Plts and RBC indicies)
ESR – marker for inflammation
Protime/INR and aPTT – surgical screening and medication monitoring
D-Dimer- thrombosis risk factor
BLOOD BANK
Our blood supplier is United Blood Services, Billings Montana
Surgical screening, Prenatal testing and blood typing
Blood products are available as needed for emergency, post op and post chemotherapy needs
MICROBIOLOGY / SEROLOGY
The laboratory can handle most of your routine culture needs including urine, blood, sputum, wound, body fluids and stool studies. The report turn out time is longer (average 2-3 days) for cultures based on how fast the organisms grow and how complex the work ups are for optimal antibiotic testing.
