The Star Valley Medical Center offers two plans to allow you to Leave a Legacy or a Living Memorial.

Star Valley Medical Center Charitable Foundation's Legacy Planning Program is designed to help people in our community leave a legacy through a planned gift to Star Valley Medical Center. We believe that Legacy Planning should match your personal goals and values with the needs of the hospital. We would like you to see the benefits of your gift and to match your gift with the values that are important to you. We would also like you to understand our mission, and help you discover the difference that you can make to the Medical Center and the community. One example of this would be :  A woman in her late eighties who had a small estate and wished to leave some of what she had as a legacy to the Medical Center.  She made a bequest in her trust to Star Valley Medical Center Charitable Foundation. She left 14% of her trust's annual net income as a legacy to the community and the Medical Center.

Remembrance Gift

You can give the greatest gift a person can give. Your gift in memory of a loved one or a friend could be a gift that helps restore the health of another. A gift to Star Valley Medical Center could do just that.

Gifts of Appreciated Securities

Giving appreciated stocks or bonds is a superb way to support Star Valley Medical Center. You can deduct the full, fair market value of long term appreciated securities, thus giving away the capital gain and avoiding the tax. At the same time, you can leave a personal legacy.

Life Insurance

You might give a sizable gift to Star Valley Medical Center through a life insurance program designed to create an endowment for long term use by the medical center. Star Valley Medical Center then becomes the owner and beneficiary of the policy.

Gifts of Real Estate

Almost any type of property: a personal residence, a farm, a vacation home, a commercial building, or an underdeveloped parcel of land would make a great gift to Star Valley Medical Center.  And more good news: you will generally be able to avoid any tax on the capital gain on the property, reduce your taxable estate by the value of your gift, and best of all, receive a charitable contribution deduction for 100% of the fair market value of the property.

Gifts of Residence or Farm with Retained Right of Use

You can give the medical center your personal residence or farm, yet continue to live there the rest of your life. You will receive an immediate income tax deduction for the contribution. The gift property can also be a vacation home or a second home.

We Can Answer Your Questions

These are only a few of the options that are available to you in terms of creating a legacy through giving a gift to Star Valley Medical Center. What we do want you to know is that you can decide exactly how your gift will be used. You can decide whether it's more important for you to reduce costs at probate of your estate, or if you need to arrange for charitable deductions for income tax purposes.  We have arranged for tax experts to help you decide how you can benefit best as you plan your own personal legacy.  The point is not that you understand a charitable gift annuity, or a charitable remainder unitrust, but only that you have a desire to help the medical center, help others enjoy good health, and thus leave a legacy to the medical center and the community.  Star Valley Medical Center Charitable Foundation will use your contributions to continue development of health services and programs. Your gift will be used solely to support special hospital projects and patient care needs.

Choose today to support the future of health care in our community by using the dollars that you and your family benefitted from during life, and would otherwise just pay taxes.
