Pulmonology  

Pulmonary medicine is the branch of medicine that deals with the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases affecting the lungs.

Pulmonary medicine deals with many diseases and conditions, including: ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), cystic fibrosis, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, lung transplants, occupational lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary tuberculosis, sarcoidosis of the lungs, and SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome).

Pulmonary medicine is also sometimes called pulmonology which is the science concerned with the anatomy, physiology, and pathology of the lungs.

Star Valley Medical Center is proud to provide large city Pulmonary/ Respiratory Care and Diagnostics to residents of the region. The service consists of the regions only double Board Certified Physician (internal medicine and pulmonology), a registered sleep technologist and registered respiratory therapists. These professionals offer over one hundred years of combined experience in caring for respiratory patients.

These professionals offer their patients diagnostics and care for the full range of pulmonary and sleep disorders including primary pulmonary hypertension. The department offers the areas only complete pulmonary diagnostic lab, a two bed sleep lab, cardiac stress testing and holter/event monitoring. All these services are fully integrated into the medical centers operation and are overseen by local physicians.

The respiratory therapy department holds the American Association for Respiratory Therapy’s Quality Award. This award has been presented to less than 750 of the nations 3000 hospitals and is evidence of our commitment to quality patient care.
